Algeciras Port

The Port of Algeciras is vast. Focusing on the ferry terminal however, it is an easy place to navigate. Accessed from the main town ring road via a security gate, just walk straight ahead and you are there!. On the right you will see a row of ticket offices for the individual ferry operators, though check-in and ticket purchases can be made in the main terminal. The terminal, which has a helipad above, is spacious and clean. On the ground floor there are sales desks for the ferry operators and large display screens advising the departure times. The name of the ship is also displayed however, take no notice of this as you may well find a different ship is operating the sailing, so if you want to be on a specific ship DO SOME REASEARCH. On the upper floor of the terminal there is a very large cafeteria with TV screens and numerous departure gates for the ship. NOTE there is no outside terrace to relax on so If you are early for your ferry, there is a pavement cafe opposite the ferry terminal on the ring road next to Hotel Marina Victoria. This cafe opens from around 0500hrs. You need to allow around 15/20min to get back to the ferry terminal from here. Security is high at the ferry terminal and the walk to the Tangier Med ferry from the terminal departure lounge, which is via a covered walkway, is a long one so allow extra time!

The Hotel Marina Victoria is the closest hotel to the ferry terminal, just opposite the gates and across the road. Rooms with a view of the port sell at a premium and those without a view literally have no view at all! The rooms are large and clean with ensuite facilities, TV, wardrobe and vanity table. A lift to all rooms is available although no more than one person and their luggage would fit in it.
